Time 2026-3-19 13:10-14:00
Venue 31106, Department of Mathematics
Speaker Yen-Kuan Wu (Class of 2015, Department of Mathematics; CEO, TEKVINCI Co., Ltd.; Convener, Odoo Community Taiwan)
Title From Mathematics to NVIDIA-Certified AI Instructor: A Practical Career Path Without Re-Majoring in Computer Science
Abstract This lecture begins with the perspective of a mathematics student and traces the speaker’s journey from mathematical training to professional engagement in AI and industry practice. The focus of the talk is on how graduates of a mathematics program can effectively leverage their existing training to transition into AI-related roles—without pursuing an additional degree in computer science.
The speaker will discuss how mathematical foundations can be strategically applied to connect AI technologies, industry demands, and professional certifications, thereby constructing a practical and sustainable career pathway.
The presentation will cover the following topics:
1. The practical value and transferable competencies of mathematical training in AI and engineering practice
2. Learning pathways and key decisions in transitioning from an academic background to AI industry roles
3. The positioning of NVIDIA AI certifications in the industry and their role as professional validation tools
4. The real-world responsibilities and career outlook of AI engineers and AI instructors
5. Practical guidance for mathematics students on structuring their learning sequence and avoiding redundant investment of time and effort
This session emphasizes experiential sharing and career perspectives. It aims to provide students with a clearer understanding of the diverse opportunities available to mathematics graduates in the AI era, and to help them form a more concrete vision of industry roles and future career directions.
