| Title | The Geometry of 3-forms in 6 Dimensions II |
| Abstract | We will introduce Hitchin’s celebrated diffeomorphism-invariant volume functional on the space of smooth 3-forms over a closed 6-manifold and prove that when restricted to a fixed de Rham cohomology class, the critical points of this functional satisfy the integrability conditions for a Calabi-Yau threefold. Consequently we demonstrate how this variational principle constructs the local moduli space of these structures and naturally generates its underlying special pseudo-Kähler metric. |
