Title Noncommutative Distances on Graphs: An Explicit Approach via Birkhoff-James Orthogonality
Abstract We study the problem in quantum theory concerning the calculation of the noncommutative distances on a graph associated with a Dirac operator. Using techniques from linear algebra, specifically, Birkhoff-James orthogonality. A complete characterization of the solutions is obtained in the case when the Dirac operator corresponds to a weighted path. Open problems will be mentioned. (No quantum theory background is needed.) This is joint work with Pierre Clare, Edward Poon and Eric Swartz.
