TITLEAnticanonical Volumes of Fano Varieties

ABSTRACT In this talk, we will consider the geometry of Fano varieties and start with lower dimensional examples. The classification problem is harder in dim>2 and we will focus only on the anticanonical volume V(X) of a Fano variety,an invariant relevant for explicit classification of such varieties. I will explain some recent advance in finding the optimal upper bound of V(X) for singular Fano threefolds, extending some early work on Fano manifolds.
