TITLEComputational Topology with Applications in the Imaging Sciences

ABSTRACT Computational topology is a relatively young field in algebraic topology. Tools from computational topology have proven successful in many scientific disciplines, such as fluid dynamics, biology, material science, climatology, etc. In this talk, we will give a brief introduction to computational topology, focusing primarily on persistent homology. Applications to various datasets from cell biology and climatology will be presented to illustrate the methods.
