TITLE超音波Nakagami影像的發展與應用

ABSTRACT This presentation gives a review of the ultrasonic Nakagami image. The Nakagami distribution, initially proposed to describe the statistics of radar echoes, was a general model for all the back-scattering conditions encountered in medical ultrasound. The concept of Nakagami imaging based on the Nakagami parameter map originated from the suggestion of Shankar and some preliminary studies. The suggestion arose in response to the need of physicians and radiologists for imaging tools to visually identify scatterer properties in clinical applications. For these reasons, we further proposed a standard criterion for constructing the Nakagami image, and confirmed its usefulness in applications of tissue characterization. These applications included cataract detection, tissue ablation monitoring, flow estimation, breast tumor classification, vocal fold characterization, and liver fibrosis assessment. Our previous studies had demonstrated that the Nakagami image is able to provide information associated with the scatter-er arrangement and concentration by reflecting the statistics of the ultrasonic backscattered signals from tissues. This information complements the B-scan to improve the diagnosis obtained by conventional ultrasound imaging.
